4 week-old Puppy Update

I must admit that since Major Tom is minus any litter mates, I felt sorry for him all alone and so I have been cuddling him incessantly and even scooping him up from his basket next to my bed at night to let him sleep with me. A heating pad in the basket is an indispensible tool since single puppies don't have siblings to snuggle with. Some say that a single puppy will grow up to be much more independent and lack social skills, but who really knows?

But now Major Tom is one month old...

Tube Feeding or nursing an English Bulldog

Newborn English Bulldog puppies need to feed every two hours for the first four or five days so I am so glad that SugarPie is a good mother and nursing her baby. I think tube feeding would be so scary but you do what you have to do.

Bulldog Whelping Box

I purchased this whelping box from the Whelping Box Store because of the price ($115) and because it was made of wood.

Ground Control to Major Tom

Major Tom, a dark brindle and white English Bulldog puppy, arrived on February 19, 2011, weighing in at 1lb. 2 oz. Both mama (SugarPie) and daddy (Beefeater's Muscle Man of Imok, also known as Ozzie) and baby are doing fine.
